Nearing the End
As the debate proceeds in the Commons on the latest round of Parliamentary ping-pong, noises are being made which indicate that this could be the last stage of the battle.
Charles Clarke is offering some additional concessions in terms of a procedure to review the legislation in the new Parliament. These may satisfy the Lords in terms of their desire for a sunset clause.
There is a widespread desire for some kind of settlement though it may not be clear exactly what has been conceded to get it until the dust has settled.
